Do you want to lose weight? If so, now is the time to incorporate your weight loss goals into your New Year’s resolution. Although many individuals make the resolution to lose weight, you may want to take a different approach. Yes, still have your main goal be weight loss, but create many small, New Year resolutions. When you focus on specific areas of weight loss, instead of just being overweight, you are more likely to see success.
So, what are some good weight loss New Year resolutions?
1 – Eat Healthy
Eating healthy is an easy way to lose weight. In fact, it requires little or no physical effort on your part. Instead of snacking on a package of cookies, opt for a handful of grapes or an apple. Eliminate calorie rich soft drinks from your diet or opt for diet versions instead. Reduce your portion sizes. If this is difficult, start eating with a smaller plate.
2 – Don’t Bring Junk Food into Your Home
Saying you want to eat healthy is fine, but actually doing so is another thing. If you have a weakness for junk food, it is unlikely you will be able to eat healthily if you still have junk food in your home. So, eliminate it. This will take a lot of resilience at the grocery store, but avoid aisles or sections that have your favorite junk foods. If you only have healthy foods in your home, you will have no choice but to eat healthily. So, make one of your New Year resolutions to rid your home of junk food and keep it that way.
3 – Stay Away from Diet Food Aisles
As previously stated, you want to keep junk food out of your home, but you don’t need diet food. Look for foods that are healthy, such as fruits and vegetables. In terms of packaged and processed foods, always opt for those with low calories and low fat. Of course, you can buy diet foods, but know that you are paying more for brand name than anything else.
4 – Exercise
Aside from healthy eating, the next most important component of weight loss is exercise. In terms of exercise, you have many different options. You can go for walks outside, purchase a gym membership, or do exercise videos in the comfort of your own home.
Those who already exercise, but still want to lose weight are encouraged to increase their workouts. Add an extra 15 minutes or opt for workouts that are more intensive.
5 – Walk More
When you walk, you are getting exercise. With that said, it isn’t always referred to as an exercise routine, but that doesn’t mean it can’t become one. If you are looking to lose weight, make one of your mini New Year resolutions to walk more. Park in the back of the car parking lot, take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator and walk down the street to the post office instead of driving. The more you walk the more calories you burn.
6 – Get a Workout Buddy
If you are serious about losing weight and have more than 10 pounds to lose, it can be difficult. You will not experience an immediate weight loss. And, when you do lose weight, it can be difficult to keep it off. For that reason, get a workout buddy. This person will be your support. Whether you and your workout buddy exercise together daily or meet weekly for updates, this support can help you turn your New Year resolution into a reality.
7 – Buy an MP3 Player
If you don’t already have an MP3 player, buy one. They are very affordable now. You do not need to have the latest iPod. Instead, opt for a cheap MP3 player.
8 – Use Your MP3 Player
Not only do you want to buy an MP3 player, but use it. One of the many reasons why people stop exercising is because they are bored. Use iTunes or another legal music program to purchase and download your favorite music. Listen to it when working out. Or download hypnosis Mp3s on losing weight or other positive changes you might want to make.
9 – Talk to Your Doctor
If you are overweight or obese, you may fear going to do the doctor. After all, who wants a lecture on the dangers of being overweight? Don’t feel this way. Instead, make the resolution to schedule an appointment with your primary care physician. He or she can help you devise the perfect weight loss plan.
10 – Don’t Give Up
Keep coming back to this blog, or subscribe for updates, to receive new ideas and motivation.

"An analysis of five weight loss studies reported in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology in 1996 (Vol. 64, No. 3, pgs 517-519) showed that the " … weight loss reported in the five studies indicates that hypnosis can more than double the effects" of traditional weight loss approaches."

Lose Weight Now with Hypnosis
New year is upon us and resolutions are kicking in. One of the most common after the festive season is weight loss.
Weight loss for some can be eternal. Why? Each new diet or new recycled diet offers the same. If you look at the word diet, the first 3 letters are DIE.
Unfortunately all these diets work on the starvation principle of some sort and drastically reduced calories. Or by eating solid protein or living off a boring liquid diet. None of them address the relationship to food, which is a lifetime one.
Diets slow down the metabolism. After 4 days the body shuts down and goes into starvation mode protecting the very calories you are trying to lose. Metabolism slows right down. When you start eating again the weight piles back on and with an almost wrecked metabolism the pounds pile back on.
Anybody been there before?
Dieticians and so-called experts do not tell you that the body likes and needs good old fat. It serves a useful propose, it supplies us with a foodstore in times of starvation and keeps us warm. Unlike muscle, which is cosmetic, and burns off calories.
The subconscious mind still acts as if we were in the cave. Diets do not address this in any way shape or form. The key is to work with the body. The body will accept weight loss of 2lbs a week. Any more is fluid and muscle tissue. If the weight is lost slowly it will stay off. Therefore no more yo-yo effect. And another cycle of dieting with the latest wonder diet.
Working with the body is the key.
Everybody knows what he or she should and should not eat. The key is feeling good about doing it. Unfortunately we live in an age of easy and instant, with miracle diets offering absurd amounts of weight loss in a matter of days or weeks. I have helped clients to lose weight who have tried every diet under the sun. Always the same.
Hypnosis is a process whereby you can work with the body and feel good about doing the things that you know you should be doing. Once you are into a rhythm the weight comes off, slowly and naturally and safely and stays off. Psychologically you feel good, as long lost confidence in your ability to lose weight returns as you have finally found something that works.

Treating Bulimia with Hypnosis
Like Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa is an eating disorder which typically affects teenage girls and young women. From an obsession with weight and body image, they develop a pattern of eating, often binging, then ridding the body of the food by vomiting, taking laxatives, enemas, fasting or excessive exercise. A tell-tale sign is someone who always goes to the lavatory straight after eating, particularly if they have eaten foods high in fats and sugars. They satisfy their taste buds with 'comfort food' but then the emotion that follows pushes the person to purge, guilt and self-loathing. They might run a tap to hide the sound of vomiting and eat mints to hide the smell of vomit.
As in many disorders when affect young people, the question of control is often prevalent. They may feel they have no control in all or some areas of their lives. The parents may be overbearing, pushy or unable to show their love. The person is able to demonstrate control over eating. Coupled with this is society's emphasis on thinness, looking good and constant exposure to food and drink advertising.
The person becomes preoccupied with the control of their body weight so excessive eating seems contradictory. They will often know calorific count of hundreds of foods and spend a large proportion of their time thinking about food. This may include planning the next binge.
A bout of excess eating may be triggered by boredom, depression, unhappiness, anger, anxiety and general low self-esteem. A lack of seratonin has been identified as a possible physical cause but this is generally associated with depression.
Bulimics will often plan their day in terms of when and what to eat followed by how to purge the body of the food. The bingeing removes their self-control so they may not stop eating once they start, thinking that they can always throw up the food later.
Bulimics often report a trance feeling where everything else seems to fade into the background as they forget time passing or outside thoughts and ideas and just binge on particular foods.
Physical Complications of Bulimia:
o Dehydration
o Heart disorders (Arrhythmia, cardiomypathia)
o Acute gastric dilation
o Stomach ulcers
o Erosion of teeth enamel
o Swollen glands in neck and face
o Aspiration pneumonia (vomit in wind pipe)
o Seizure
o Polysistic Ovary syndrome
o Menstrual irregularities
o It can be life-threatening.
If left untreated, bulimia will take its toll on the body and on the mind with sore gums and bad teeth due to the stomach acid brought up during vomiting. Problems that can turn deadly are stomach ulcers and perforations, intestinal perforations, tearing of the aesophagus and an imbalance of the body's natural minerals and electrolytes, leading to heart failure.
Poor Eating Habits
The person fears putting on weight so rather than eat sensibly they will work against their healthy metabolism by eg skipping breakfast. By starting the day with a complex carbohydrate such as cereal, they would actually increase their metabolic rate and burn more calories as well as enjoying sufficient energy.
Choice in Therapy
Bulimia is like many other negative habits that people carry on unconsciously, often controlled by the habit which has become automatic. Bulimics usually have issues with perfectionism and body image or self esteem. Traditional mind therapies usually spend a great deal of time in the past understanding the root cause of bulimia, looking for hidden meanings.
Hypnotherapy in treating bulimia prefers a quicker approach rewriting the behaviour patterns associated with bulimia, allowing the person a choice rather than a label. Hypnosis provides fast access to the subsconscious mind which knows what is at the root of the problem. To the subconscious, any message or image presented is interpreted as real so the therapist can present a new image of control. This may involve regression to a traumatic event which has deeply upset the person and re-writing that event so the movie in her mind turns out in a preferable way. It is not that the traumatic event is wiped out as hypnosis is not brain-washing. Rather the conscious mind still knows what happened but the negative emotional impact is diminished. The person no longer needs to purge.
Instead of feeling bad and out of control, a hypnotherapist will ask the person to find a time when they felt confident, relaxed and in control then lock in that feeling overwriting the negativity caused by the bulimia. Positive post-hypnotic suggestions will be given to free the person from a need to purge and replace previous destructive, negative thoughts with new patterns of positive behaviour.
Usually 3-5 hours of hypnotherapy will produce dramatic results by changing how the person feels about themselves, their body image, their eating habits and eliminating the need to remove food from the body. Boosting and reinforcing self-esteem while the person experiences deep relaxation of body and mind is key.
While private treatment with a hypnotherapist is preferable, some may find this hypnosis MP3 for treating bulimia useful. There is also this audio book on Managing Bulimia with Self-Hypnosis:
